Jessica ESCOFFIER
CRCN-INSERM
Dr. Jessica Escoffier is a tenured principal investigator (PI) at the French National Institute of Health and Medical Research (INSERM) and a project leader in male infertility research. She obtained her PhD in 2009 and completed several postdoctoral fellowships in France, the United States, and Geneva, where she developed new models to study male reproductive function.
Her research focuses on spermatozoa and male infertility, with a particular emphasis on capacitation and acrosome biogenesis. She currently leads projects aimed at restoring functional spermatogenesis in infertile mice through in vivo and ex vivo mRNA transfection, including the ANR JCJC SPERMREPAIR 2020–2025 project (Restoring functional spermatogenesis in infertile mice by in vivo mRNA therapy), and she is the coordinator of the PRC SPERMBACK 2025–2029 project (Personalized mRNA-LNP therapy for male sterility).
Dr. Escoffier received the Bronze Pipette Prize from the UFR of Biology at Joseph Fourier University for the best thesis publication (2011) and holds an international patent (2017) titled Method for increasing the lifespan and motility of animal sperm using an inhibitor of SLO3 potassium channel.
