On November 25, 2025, the Academy of Sciences once again gathered the scientific community, representatives of major research and higher education institutions, and its public and private partners under the dome of the Palais de l'Institut de France for a second awards ceremony celebrating the women and men who advance science and innovation. This new session highlighted more than forty winners, whose work, marked by excellence and commitment, illustrates the diversity and vitality of scientific research in all its dimensions.
Among the winners is Mohamed-Ali Hakimi, who received the Allianz Foundation - Institut de France Award [1]
Research director at Inserm, Institute for Advanced Biosciences (IAB), Mohamed-Ali Hakimi heads the toxoplasmosis and host-parasite coevolution team at the IAB in Grenoble. He explores the molecular dialogues and conflicts between the Toxoplasma parasite and its hosts, which have shaped its persistence in humans and its transmission via cats throughout evolution. He tracks the presence of the parasite in the brain using new markers and develops innovative therapies against toxoplasmosis.
